This past Sunday, I had my first visit to Releaf Day Spa. It is a cozy spa hidden in a little strip mall behind Einsteins on 60. I was going in for an eyebrow wax and a Brazilian wax (my first!), so I was a bit nervous. My esthetician, Heather Haitz, made me so comfortable. Then, I found out she used hard wax- wonderful! I have sensitive skin and the strip wax often causes bleeding or bruising. Not this stuff- it was so much better. While I won't say having your hair ripped out is fun, the appointment was as pleasant as it could be and over before I knew it. Heather really knows her stuff and put me totally at ease. I have lived here for 4 years and wish I had found it sooner! I even got some extra cards to give to my friends!

This spa is a gem that is tucked away so you'd never guess! You walk through the doors and the interior has been done so nicely, and you are welcomed so politely that you totally forget that you're in Brandon with a busy highway outside. My massage was wonderful, as was my sea salt soak. I would highly recommend this spa, and I have had experience with the Safety harbor and Hilton spas and many Aveda spas in the bay area - Releaf's oasis is definitely money well spent. You won't want to leave, and as you exit the doors, you'll be counting down till your next appointment.
I just left from the Releaf day spa and had a pretty horrible experience. It was a beautiful relaxing setting, with a very friendly receptionist. I went to treat my mother and I to hour long deep tissue massages. My mother's masseusse's name was Sonya and was OUTSTANDING, my mom had a very relaxing massage and felt that Sonya got deep in to her tissue being very gentle and smooth. I, however, didn't have a pleasent massage by any means. I wrote on my form that I had been in a car accident rather recently where I broke several ribs and had very serious back injuries, leaving me with unbearable back pain that I am trying to get over. I walked into the room, where Tina did a terrible job making me feel relaxed and comfortable. In the beginning of my massage, she was talkative, telling me about her massage that she will be having on Thursday, etc, etc. How am I going to relax and get in the zone if my ear is being chatted off? Then when she got to my back, the most delicate area of my body, she failed to use her hands and just repeatedly dug her elbows in to my "tender" spots. I have gotten several massages in the past few months at home in Virginia, and that has never been a tactic used. My bones are still healing and it was so unpleasent to have an elbow jabbed in to them over and over. Basically what I am saying, is if you go to Releaf Spa for a massage, DO NOT GET TINA. Other than that, awesome place, maybe just needs to be better staffed.
